Yellowstone Adventure -12
As we entered the park this morning, the thermometer read -12. That sends chills down my back, and that’s not because its cold! Heck no, that means only good stuff and man, we found it!
You rarely find elk covered in hoar frost. You find Bison that way, a lot, but not elk. This herd of cows were on an island in the middle of the Madison with the wind blowing right at them.
Now here’s the small rub. That same wind creating the frost to coat the elk also brought the air temp to -26. Wind chill is hard to work in and after the 40min photographing these babes, we were all quite happy to see them move into the river and up the bank into the woods. I found a limit for the Moose Cam…it didn’t want to autofocus at -26 and ice forming on it.
