We received a whole lot of email, phone calls and print orders from our recent adventures in Yellowstone. It’s incredibly rewarding to put images out there that inspire others, none no more so than those that come in from folks asking how they too can experience Yellowstone in winter.
My personal preference is to go in via snowcoach. I prefer this over snowmobile because it just makes it so much easier to deal with the photography aspect. Getting camera gear ready, set up and than put away after shooting is so much easier when you’re not fighting the elements. Snowmobiles can can get to more places and faster, but your gear pays the price. And if it’s a really cold day, like I like, you pay the price as well.
There is one big obstacle to Yellowstone winter travel. It is not inexpensive. To get into the park for the least amount, you should look into some of the packages that take you into the Snow Lodge for a couple of nights. This is the lowest price option I know about right now. I can tell you that honestly, your time in Yellowstone is worth any price! Go out this weekend and make your own adventure and bring back the wonders you find in your images!
