I’m back in the office, nose to the monitor cranking out words of wisdom (at least that’s what I’m told). I’m not where I should be, behind the camera. The last three weeks were amazing in MT and Yellowstone. I came back with 278GB of edited files which are now just finishing backing up. Basically every turn in the road brought a new subject, a new photographic challenge and vast rewards that make sitting down to dinner with a good bottle of wine, just that much better. Don’t get me wrong, I like home but every time I enter a room, there isn’t a new photographic challenge, a photographic reward. There’s nothing for the Moose Cam!

At times I find these interludes as frustrating, I so much want to make that cool image but I look out to see bald skies (and right now scant snow) and hard light. There is so little snow the normal huge congregation of birds at our feeders are spread out with the ease of finding nibbles everywhere. And of course, the damn rabbit is nowhere to be found. So that’s my challenge right now, get the writing done while finding subjects to photograph to retain what sanity I posses. You ever been in that place, your photography finger itching to go but nowhere to take it? That’s put’s us all in the same boat then doesn’t it, pushing our imaginations to take the next step.
