DigitalPro 4 SoftwareJust which version of DigitalPro should you buy? This is a common question and one that is easily answered. Download and try DigitalPro 4 and you're using the Pro edition. If you use the "Publish" feature (which is really a misnamed file management tool) just once, then you need to purchase the Pro edition because that feature is not in the Standard edition. I live by the Publish feature.

What makes the Publish feature worth the extra money, just check out the video tutorials and you'll see how this is an essential part of Moose's workflow.

If the Pro edition is the one to own, why do we have two versions? Why to photographers spend $10k on a 600mm lens and then only spend a $100 on a cheap tripod to support it? Typically, photographers go the cheapest way until they find out that's the wrong way to go. We're just going with the flow so to speak.

DigitalPro 4 Pro Edition only features:

  • Automatic image resizing and format conversion for submissions:
Input formats: Over a dozen, including JPEG, TIFF, GIF, JPEG2000, Photo CD, Nikon & Canon Raw, and Photoshop PSD
    Output formats:
    JPEG, TIFF, and JPEG2000
TIFF (CYMK), Compressed TIFF & JPEG 4:1:1
    Photoshop, PNG & JPEG:4:1:1
  • Powerful captioning editor (IPTC & Photoshop compatible) with user-creatable templates
  • Batch IPTC captioning of selected images
  • Automatic "Delivery Memo" creation for submissions
  • Image Event Logging and Reporting - Those of you who've been looking for a way to track your submissions and sales will be ecstatic that you can do that right in DigitalPro. DigitalPro automatically logs all submissions in its database, and you can also log other events including Sales or Licenses of images. DigitalPro then allows you to generate reports on your image activity.
  • Cataloging of offline images
  • Automatic captioning of loaded images with your Copyright, Credit and Camera Profile or camera colorspace tagging (for Nikon & Canon D-SLRs)
  • Travel/Return support so you can take your folder structure with you in the field
  • Support for JPEG 2000 Image Format - DigitalPro includes integrated support for both viewing and creating JPEG2000 files

These features are ONLY found in the Pro Edition, what you download and try for free for thirty days. If you order the Standard Edition, you will not have any of the features listed above. So an additional aid to determining which version is best for you, just look over the list and determine if you can live without all of these features.
