Nikon 105 f2.8 VRThis is a great lens. I use it for everything where the 105mm focal length is the right focal length. If you keep up with my blog, you’ve seen where I’ve used 105VR for landscapes to portraits to macros to architecture. It’s a great “knock around” lens for capturing life without life knowing you’re doing so. With its VR and beefy barrel size, it’s real easy to handhold and capture really sharp images.

The 105 in its prime role as a macro lens is gorgeous. It can work down to 1:1 without any tubes or accessories. It is very flat field so whatever plane you focus on will all be sharp. Being very selective with your DOF, using the R1C1 to control the light, you can create some dramatic drama with the 105VR.
