Nikon 10.5 FisheyeThis funky little lens that too many photographers have pigeon-holed as a gimmick is pretty darn cool. Yeah, it does distort the edges terribly if you don’t know how to apply it. Yeah, it’s not the sharpest optic in the realm but it takes in so much of the world, it all works out in the end.

You can’t filter this wide boy, using it on a tripod is nearly impossible, so handholding is pretty much essential. This also means that using it successfully requires good light at the very least. That’s the true trick to making the lens really sing. Keeping strong lines from edges of the frame helps your images as well. This small little lens packs one heck of a big picture punch that I use over and over again to great success.
