Nikon D2XThe D2X is a damn good camera that has served me very well from the get go. When do I use the D2X in my photography? Most often, it is the camera body for landscapes, panos, macros and product shots. In other words, when I want amazing detail in my very large prints. Why don’t I use this than for my wildlife work? On rare occasions I do but its small buffer and slower fps is what keeps me from using it all the time. Why not just switch to HSC to get the larger buffer size and faster fps? The main reason is that it seems to be always my luck that when I’m switching into or out of HSC, the camera is writing files from the buffer to the CF Card. In trying to switch during this time, the camera locks up and you get a BUSY signal in the LCD. I absolutely hate that, it always screws me up!

Every other feature of the D2X is outstanding! Many have asked me why I’ve not gone to the D2Xs. The main reason is the extra buck doesn’t make me extra money and after the firmware update, all that is missing is the graying out of the screen in HSC mode when comparing the D2x to the D2Xs. To learn more about what I think about the D2X by heading to http://www.moosepeterson.com/d2x/index.html I do not have a camera strap on the D2X. This body is always attached to either a tripod; to a lens attached to a tripod; or handheld.

A camera strap when it is just hanging freely is a vertical line that shy subjects might latch onto causing them to move away.
