This is the first field test I’ve made of the Epson P5000. A long user and proponent of the P2000, I was anxious to give the P5000 a real test. My current work in AK has proven to be a great testing ground. The speed is vastly improved making the P5000 right off the bat a killer. Turn the unit on, insert your CF Card and a message appear to Backup your CF card. Click OK and boom, done deal. No menus to peck through, nothing to preprogram, just take the unit out of the box, charge the battery and the first time you use it, you’re good to go. Speaking of battery, the battery life is outstanding. It only gets better from there. Having a 3rd backup when working in the field I feel is a must. Yeah, it does a whole lot more, but for me, it’s a tool doing one job and it does it better than any other unit I’ve tested. The P5000 is the perfect 3rd backup!
