There I was in Monument Valley, the vistas before the camera sweeping, epic, gorgeous! Working on “teaching” moments, I wanted to use the camera’s bracketing in the camera to do a White Balance bracket series. I went into the menu to set it up, only to find, the options grayed out. I had another setting “conflicting” with the WB Bracketing, so I couldn’t do it. Now the question was, what setting did I have that was conflicting? I tried to troubleshoot it on the spot cause I wanted to take photos from that spot. No luck … argh. I quickly got on my phone but couldn’t find the answer. I went back to my room and got out the instruction book, but couldn’t find the answer. I hate these moments! Forward the clock three weeks, and I was with my good friend Paul from Nikon; he knows everything. He didn’t know right off the bat so he got the settings from my camera, loaded them into his, and went to work. He went through the same process and couldn’t find it. Then he did what we should have both done from the start: hit the Help Button in the top right corner of the screen. Right there it says the conflict was that I was shooting in Raw. It don’t work in Raw and if I didn’t try to make it so difficult, I would have quickly found the answer. Argh! Such a … duh moment!
