Beaverd captured by Z 8 / Z70-200f2.8II
Wesley had only one path launching from T44 and it would be right in front of the dock I was standing on. The light was not great, the background was busy, but check out that yellow. Wow! And that yellow in front of the green, superb. But how to make a photo so the busy pattern of the pines and more importantly, that sky, “disappear”? The only option I had was to go slow. Standing on a dock that would soon be moving up and down from the wake of the launch, capturing a sharp image was iffy at best. But the worst that could happen is, I would have no photo, which, if I didn’t shoot at all, would be the end result. The Z 8 was set to 1/20, I set my feet so I would unwind my trunk twist right when the Beaver was broadside, and waited. When I could see my friend Carol taking my photo as the Beaver past, I knew the image was sharp and the background, was muted. Takes lots of practice before the technique is required, but it’s a great tool. The slow drag.
