I large part because the family of weasels takes in critters like Sea and River Otters. Those are the easiest of the family to see and photograph. When you get to the Least or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moosepeterson.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/12\/pop-goes-the-weasel\/\" target=\"_blank\">Long-tailed Weasel<\/a>, you&#8217;re talking almost pure luck to see them let alone get glass on them. Quite often when you see them, it&#8217;s out of the corner of your eye and you shake your head because you thought you saw somethin but when you look closely, nothing is there. It could only be one thing, a Ermine or better know as, Long-tailed Weasel. Their coats turn white in the winter and they are more gorgeous and cute than a photo does justice. I was shooting with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/1024081-REG\/nikon_d4s_digital_slr_camera.html\/BI\/8449\/KBID\/9350\/kw\/NID4S\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xNID4S\" target=\"_blank\">D4s<\/a> \/ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/918849-REG\/nikon_2205_af_s_nikkor_800mm_f_5_6e.html\/BI\/8449\/KBID\/9350\/kw\/NI80056\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xNI80056\" target=\"_blank\">800f5.6<\/a> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/1086825-REG\/zenelli_carbonz_carbon_fiber_gimbal.html\/BI\/8449\/KBID\/9350\/kw\/ZECARBONZ\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xZECARBONZ\" target=\"_blank\">Zenelli<\/a> a top the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/548442-REG\/Gitzo_GT5561SGT_GT_5561SGT_Giant_Systematic_6X.html\/BI\/8449\/KBID\/9350\/kw\/GIGT5561SGT\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xGIGT5561SGT\" target=\"_blank\">Gitzo 5561SGT<\/a> so I whipped around but the sucker was too smart &#8230; gone! That&#8217;s when you&#8217;ve gotta stop, watch their behavior and look for the pattern. They will typically follow the same route\/routine as they explore about. And this one did just that. I prefocused on the culvert pipe it was using for a runway and got lucky, got a shot of it emerging and then being cute. We saw it a couple of times during our time on the bank but never long enough to make &#8220;the&#8221; photo but oh man, what a great looking critter!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a thing for weasels.
