Z24-70f2.8<\/a> & 24-70f2.8VR<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

We are offered up an interesting quandary right now with Nikkor lenses, the new Z24-70f2.8<\/a>, and still realatively new 24-70f2.8VR<\/a>. They both have the same focal length range, f\/stop, 82mm filter size and both are beautifully sharp. After that, they start to part ways. The Z24-70f2.8<\/a> will mount only on the Z7\/Z6<\/a> where the 24-70f2.8VR<\/a> will mount to both the F Mount and Z Mount (with FTZ<\/a> adapter). If VR is an important factor to you, then you have to consider the 24-70f2.8VR<\/a> has built-in 3 stops where the Z24-70f2.8<\/a> uses the magnificent five stop in the Z7\/Z6<\/a>. Which to choose?<\/p>\n

The 24-70f2.8VR<\/a> is 6″ long, weighs 38.4oz. The Z24-70f2.8<\/a> is 5″ long and weighs 24.8oz. It’s not until we look at size and weight does one of the 24-70s have an edge. If you want to add a 24-70f2.8 to your kit the question remains, which one? A number of folks have asked me this very same question and after weighing these facts for myself, I went with the Z24-70f2.8<\/a> for two main reasons. The first is I wanted smaller \/ lighter in my kit which the Z24-70f2.8<\/a> is. Probably more importantly is my use for the 24-70. I use this lens for photographing people at work and in that pursuit, flash is important. The Z7\/Z6<\/a> have become my go to with shooting folks with the SB-5000<\/a>. And with that, the Z24-70f2.8<\/a> is my logical choice. It might not be for you but then, that’s why there are two 24-70s.
