Camera Wifi? Yep!
With my being on Instagram, a new set of questions have been coming in that basically ask, “How you getting those images from the camera to the iPhone?” With the Df and WU-1a, D750 and V3, they all can create a wireless network that talk with a smart device such as the iPhone via the Nikon WMU app. It’s really simple, so simple I can do it in the field, finish an image in PS (on the iPhone) and within minutes show them a finished B&W image to communicate what I’m seeing. It’s just another step to post it onto Instagram. I’ve been doing this for some time with the Df and now I’ve expanded to these other bodies. The iPhone camera can only do so much so this permits us to expand our sharing of images closer to our heart. It’s pretty darn cool technology!
LensCoat BodyBag
In keeping with the small, compact nature of the Nikon 1 V3, I went lookin for a case for it. I was so excited to find the PERFECT one that is a PERFECT fit, literally. The LensCoat BodyBag (Small) does a perfect job, protecting my V3 to Africa and back and all points in between. I use the V3 for my landscape work when shooting wildlife, wide angle camera when working an airshow and I carry it around with that strap you see attached to the case. It clips onto my belt and away I go. It’s such a simple thing that works. Wanted to pass it along.
Lexar’s New 256GB Data Storage
Lexar has been moving the bar forward in a big way dealing with our images. As well as using their cards (CF & SD), and their brand new Thunderbolt 2 Hub (seen here or get the individual reader), they have come out with a 256GB Data Storage Drive. So what’s the big deal, a new storage device?
Many have a basic workflow where, when they upload their images they make a backup of them. This is easily done for example in my favorite DAM, PhotoMechanic. Well, you can do that now with this Lexar 256 Data Storage at blistering Thunderbolt speed. Or if you’re like me, you shoot a bunch of video that needs to be shared with someone. Here’s another great use for this speed. And speed is what it is all about. It’s a very simple yet elegant way to make hast with a daily task. Simply fantastic!
