OK, the dust has settled, had a chance to check ‘er out and ya, the new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G Lens has been ordered. Now, what’s the difference between it and the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G, I don’t know, yet. But I’m going to find out. I shot the 58Noct back in the day and the 55f1.2 for a while so I’m looking forward to taking a trip down memory lane in 2013.
My friends at B&H love to pull my chain and nothin does it better than to hand me a new tool when they know I can’t play with it. Last week they put in my hand the CamRanger and I’ve been playing with it every since. This is simply a great tool! Using the iPhone or iPad, Win or Mac & Android, you connect in seriously a heartbeat with the very simple and straight forward UI and you’re operational. You see right through the viewfinder (taping the LiveView) so you shoot stills or video remotely, effortlessly. You can do time lapse, HDR, multiple focus and plain old click photography. It is SO well thought out, there isn’t a thing I would do to improve it. I can’t wait to install it in an aircraft cockpit and remotely shoot. Outstanding!
It’s no secret I’m a HUGE fan of the D600, well is just got better! On first glance, as many have already hinted to, the D610 appears to be a clone of the D600 with sensor spec problem fixed (something I’ve never seen first hand). I’ve not seen the D610 firsthand but have my request in for one already.

I’m just back from meetings at B&H and the fun part of the meeting is when they introduce me to all the cool new accessories they have found. This has to be one of the coolest ones in a long time. Intelli-Charger is for lack of better terms, a universal charger for ALL our batteries. I got mine with a cable that charges my iPod / iPhone and MiFi at the same time and the unit IS NOT plugged into a AC outlet! Ya, it can charge the batteries for my flash, all camera bodies and more when plugged into the wall, but it comes with its own battery making it an independent charger. It comes with cables for AC & Car charing as well. This unit is simply cool and at $39, a no-brainer add to the camera bag.
