The Foundation Room View
Photoshop World is this amazing, exhausting, exhilarating event that I just love! There are so many opportunities, so many new friends to make which is the only way I can manage to keep moving otherwise I would go horizontal and die! Well last night there were three parties, one of them being an Adobe party for Carousel. It was held on the balcony of the Foundation Room which is on the 43rd floor of Mandalay Bay. Now the view to the south isn’t much….but the view to the north….
Now I didn’t do anything other then hang out off the balcony, do a 5 image HDR and process…good stuff!
Adobe, Nik & OnOne New Goodies!
Adobe working some really amazing, freakin wicked engineering, announced yesterday at Photoshop World their new “program” Carousel. There is truly no way I can sum it up other then to say it provides a conduit for you to have all your images available to you anywhere in the world on your iPad with FULL editing ability. Bloody amazing!
Nik announced Color Efex Pro 4 yesterday. You can preorder it right now (and click the link at the bottom to receive a 15% discount) and I can tell you first hand, it rocks! In fact, you will find some Moose presets in CEP4 so you can use the exact same filters in combination with the exact same settings that I use, and…and…with just one click! It bloody rocks!
OnOne Software released Perfect Photo Suite 6 yesterday and yikes, what a massive release!There are some amazing tools in this suite you just gotta have! I’ve not put up an tutorials knowing this was coming but will have some soon because these are more tools you should have in your finishing bag!
NAPP Photo Safari – Bonnie Springs
PSW is going which means it was time for the NAPP Safari. I’m honored to be able to teach this along with one my heroes Joe McNally. We were at Bonnie Springs, a great western ghost town outside Las Vegas. I was able to get Valerie away from Joe for just a second, literally to do a quick interior fill flash demo inside the saloon. Now you might was saying, fill flash indoors? The major part of the exposure is from two windows out of frame as a little from the light over her head. There is a SB-900 out of the frame on the left. The shutter speed is 1/4 at f/4 handheld. We spent 4min on the click. Just a quick simple click making use of some natural moody light.
MLP Becomes a Hero!
I’ve had the pleasure of working with many a photographer but none have been like Greg. A shooter for only a couple of years, he decided to enroll in my Master of Light Program to move his skills forward. Greg is a natural, the basic skills of photography were never an issue. And his spirit and visual sense go way beyond most so working with him was not only a please, but an honor. In fact, the normal 3 month MLP extended into 6 as we explored photography and light. His work is already being recognized as amazing and I have no doubt he will leave his mark on this industry. I’ve never had a MLP mentee like Greg and to me, he became one of my heros. Enjoy his work and be inspired.
