This is simply a brilliant product I’m pulling out, it’s that time of year! I learned about the DSLR Parka Cold and Rain Protector last year and it is so simple but sooo effective! It’s real simple, you place your camera / lens inside and place your hands inside and you shoot. You can shoot easily down to zero with no gloves easily with this. You can put a flash through the top slot and see everything through the viewfinder and LCD with clear back panel. It’s real simple to attach or remove and get your hands inside to your gear. The inside lining is soo soft as well, it just screams “come in!” It fits any body, any lens as well as any size of hands. If you’re shooting with a Nikon AFS lens, be sure to have it set to M/A and not A/M. Otherwise, this is the perfect outdoor photographer accessory. I’ll have it the end of the month at Bosque for those cold mornings. Oh, BTW … it makes a great sound blimp too!
I’m so incredibly excited by all the possibilities these new cameras, tools bring to storytelling! I’ve had the KeyMission 360 and KeyMission 170 for a week now. My good friends at Crown Camera rushed them to me once they were shipped by Nikon. Ever since I’ve been learning these things. Like so many of you (cause I’ve heard from you), it’s not been perfect sailing. Pairing was smooth as silk the first time, the first time. Staying paired and connected has not been smooth. It doesn’t effect shooting, just controlling the camera remotely with the iPhone. I too have experienced the “Overheating” error message and at this time, I don’t have a solution to pass along. The KeyMission 360/170 Utility works great and has been the saving grace (great job for outputting a finished file!).
The most important aspect to me is the enormous potential of this new technology! The VIDEO these units product is spectacular! To this point, all I have to offer is the basic battery / location tests and the BTS video I shot in TX this past week (see below). The first “beauty” shoot I’ll be doing with the is still a week off. The one issue I do see that I’m working through are the giant files these lit’l beauts create. I know within a short time I’ll have a bucket of these cameras and dealing with all that video will be a challenge but the story they will tell will be spectacular and that’s what it’s all about! mtc

I just want to tell you how much I like the new MP 1 ver 2 bag. As owner of the original MP 1 I wasn’t sure if I want to upgrade to the new version. Boy, am I glad I did. It is fantastic. I have taken it to Australia and on small commuter planes with no problems. It is the only bag I will trust my 800 mm lens to be in.

As a wildlife photographer who is a woman, finding the perfect camera bag that I can manage has been a challenge. The MP-1 V2 easily and conveniently holds the wildlife gear I need, including my 600mm lens, three or four smaller lenses, flash, and a couple of camera bodies. The backpack style bag is brilliantly designed and the straps disappear when not needed. And, instead of one large opening, the bag has three separate openings that make accessing specific lenses and cameras much easier and, more discreet. But, most importantly, it fits into the overhead of any airplane. Since I’ve owned the bag, I’ve flown to Australia, Alaska, and Texas with it. Each trip involved flying on both large jets and small regional airplanes with tiny overheads but the MP-1 V2 fit in all easily. Now, the apprehension I used to feel before embarking on any air trip with my camera gear has dissipated because I know the bag will fit in the airplane and I won’t be arguing with flight attendants over it. With all that gear in it, the bag does get heavy but I can still manage to carry it on and off an airplane and walk some distance with it. But, I discovered that it easily attaches to a collapsable wheeled luggage carrier so when I get off an airplane, before walking through the airport, I strap it securely onto a carrier. I love this bag and if an old gal like me can handle it, anyone can!

On our last adventure, there were FIVE in use which is great to see.
