We are thrilled to be able to offer a fall Yosemite Workshop in 2013! The dates are 14-17, Nov 2013. The marvelous folks at Yosemite have provided us with a permit and with politics and budgets, thought we’d best go for it not knowing what next year will bring for our Parks. Our timing is for fall color in the Valley, a spectacular event! You would arrive on the 20th for our evening get together and plan on leaving after sunset (dark) on the 24th or the 25th. The price is $1695 which includes the workshop packet and instruction. Once signed up you would get more info in regards to lodging.
We are talking about a lot of photography (not a bunch of hiking) and some of the best and least known locations. If we’re really lucky, we’ll have a “winter” storm as winter storms blow in great clouds creating gorgeous landscapes. We’ll photograph everything from critters, waterfalls, granite, trees and whatever stops in front of our lenses in color and black and white. We’ll spend time in the digital darkroom answering those kinds of questions and hopefully we’ll get an opportunity for a star trail.

First, I want to thank all of those who signed up for the Safari, we’re going to have a GREAT time! Second, if you want to come but were told it is sold out, put your name on the list and be active. Life gets in the way of life and there always seems to be a person or two who doesn’t make it leaving an opening for someone on the wait list. Lastly, there are other Precons you might wanna check out and though we’d miss you, we want you to have fun and learn. And remember, I’ll have classes throughout Photoshop World and would be happy to entertain and educate whenever I’m give the stage. Look forward to seeing you there!
You knew it had to happen, they’ve separated me & Joe at the Safari so we’re both doing different events. Many have emailed and asked what I was going to do so thought I’d take a moment and tell ya (yeap, no surprise this time, first change). We’ll start in the class room going over some basics like camera settings and handholding techniques. Then we’ll look at some images and talk about how exposure, composition, lens selection and where you place yourself all effect YOUR photographic message. I’ll provide you ideas for our afternoon shoot and unlike anyother Precon I’ve taught, I’ll take you into the digital darkroom for finishing. At about that time, we’ll get on the bus and head out to your shoot. We’re returning to the over the top popular Precon to Fantasy of Flight. Ya, there will be planes, details, HDR and much more to photograph but to bring a special note to the event, I’m bringing along some special friends.
Skip and his reinactors will be our models for the WHOLE time! This troop of actors are great and will make the experience so much fun and photographically rewarding, it’s hard to express until you participate. I’ve worked with these aviation reinactors many times and every time, they blow me out of the water and overshadow my presence with their antics. Working with the NAPP Staff, we have planned a great day for education and entertainment for you. We have a smaller group of photographer, bigger group of assistants and more models so we’ve stacked the deck in your favor. I look forward to shooting with you on the flight deck!

On 15-17 Feb, 2013 we’re pulling a couple of all nighters as we stare at the heavens and photograph the stars. We’ll be doing every sort of heavenly photography we can from trails to portraits, time lapse to stills. Set in the amazing and historic Alabama Hills, we have a great setting for the weekend. We’ll meet in Lone Pine, CA on Friday evening to go over strategies, gear check and howdies and then head to the Alabama Hills for our first all nighter. The next day we’ll meet up long after the sun is up and go through our images, look at the different methods of assembling our previous nights work and get ready for Saturday night shooting. After grabbing an early dinner, we’ll go out for sunset and getting into position for a fun night of shooting and ghost stories. We’ll finish up after breakfast on Sunday morning. The price is $495 which includes preclass materials, instruction and guiding only. Some have asked what if we have clouds? Then we suffer through with landscape photography in the hills. Either way, we’re going to have a great time! This is one workshop where bringing a sleeping bag might just be a must.
