Coming in at seven ounces lighter, the new eXtreme Platypod brings stability to an unstable world! You might notice in the product shot above some wear, that’s because I’ve had the Platyball attached and using this bad boy for a while now. I love it! By now you should notice that the eXtreme has “legs”. The “spikes” (which have eXtremely sharp pints, beware!) are attached to swivel joints that have many locking positions. You can locate them anywhere you might need them. The spikes completely unscrew and can be used in other holes on the eXtreme as well. The engineeringly gorgeous Really Right Stuff Z 9 base plate has arrived, and it’s perfect! It’s lighter than what I was using, and securely fits with that “lock-in” post along with the 1/4 20 thread. It comes with an L Wrench that as you see has a compartment in the plate held in place by magnets. It comes in two versions, this is just the base plate version.

When Adobe released their new, brilliant masking features in Lr & Ps > ACR, a new sidecar file came with it. If your workflow is like mine and your go from Photo Mechanic to Ps (Cmd / Ctrl +E) then you might see an ACR file appear on your lightable (only if you made a Mask in ACR). And if you Move your photos from your current folder in the lightable to a new folder, you might see that ACR sidecar file is left behind. Not to worry, the smart folks at Photo Mechanic have us covered!

To make the ACR sidecar not appear on your lightable, simply click View and uncheck Unknown Files as Proxies. And to move those ACR sidecar files with the rest of your files, go to Preferences > Manage file associations: > Edit and check ACR on the list! There ya go, you’re all up to day now.
