Our dear friend and WWII vet Bob Hambley’s is celebrating his 99th BDay today. When I talked to him, he said he was “Looking forward to celebrating his 100th!” I have no doubt he will and in fine fashion.
He has an amazing WWII story (here is Part 1), a Wildcat & Hellcat pilot who I think had nine lives! In the two part interview with him, he shares his humor, tragedy escape from death. We all think of vets of having close brushes with death, but I’ve never met anyone like Bob. A midair collision during Advanced Training, ditching in the water, landing during a tropical storm, going off the end of a carrier on the launch, flipping over upon landing on a carrier, Wildcat missing the barrier and crashing on his plane on the carrier deck, those are just SOME of his stories. We were on the edge of our seats the whole time. Most of the Vet Chronicles we film don’t last more than half an hour. Bob was going strong after two hours (this is just Part 1)! A Hellcat and Wildcat pilot during WWII, Bob saw it all. He’s such a good storyteller, even though he was sitting in front of us, we kept wondering if he was going to survive each adventure! I just want to say to Bob, thanks for all the great afternoons, thanks for your service and our continuing conversations! Happy 99th Birthday Bob!!!

Big waves, rugged coastline and a lighthouse on the bluffs, about as romantic a photograph you can conjure up! The trip is in the middle of winter to take advantage of the giant waves that occur along the entire coastline. From rocky cliffs, long beaches and lighthouses, we’ll chase those monster waves and the drama they bring. Cape Disappointment is our main focus for capturing those giant waves and iconic views! We will start and end in Portland and I’ll be taking just six hearty shooters along on this probable wet adventure. The price is $1950 (half do at the time of registration) which includes transportation once you land until you take off again, lots of instruction including lighting a lighthouse, long exposures & B&W, laughs and perhaps a hot cup of Joe once or twice.
