I had the great fortune to spend 90 minutes conversing with the amazing and talented Nikon Ambassador Jasin Boland. It got recorded and Jasin has posted it. You get to be a fly on the wall as two, salty, aged shooters talk about the business of photography. Successes and failures, frustration and fun, projects and gear, it all gets covered. I know it’s long, but we had a lot to talk about. Enjoy!
In this episode “Talkin the Same Language?”
All too often as creatives, we need to simply talk to someone. But just who do we turn to when that time comes? You need to find someone who is talkin the same language!

In this episode “How Many Does it Take?”
We seem at times to be fixated on numbers and in this case, in the pursuit of the best photo. I have an idea as you might imagine on that number it takes to file the one. It might be more than you think when asking, how many does it take?

You just never know when a simple comment, gesture, or acknowledgment might just pay it forward. Be it negative or positive comments, sincere ones that help a photographer take the next step is what it’s all about! Vishal has come along ways and I’m very honored that I can say I knew and talked to him when :-)
Hello Mr. Peterson,
My name is Vishal, and I’m 18 years old, just graduating high school. I started wildlife photography at 8 years old, with your photography being a huge inspiration over the years. I even got to talk to you once several years ago (it made my day)! You told me to just “shoot, shoot, shoot” and I’ve definitely done that.
I want to thank you for helping my photography immensely over the years, from simply analyzing your own photographs, or more direct tip videos on your YouTube. I managed to even be a finalist in a Nat Geo photo contest in 2019, the biggest realization I’ve had as to how far I’ve come since taking my first hummingbird photo in 3rd grade.
Thank you for being a role model for wildlife conservation and appreciation, and helping me strive for better photographs. I’ll definitely continue to keep shooting for years to come, and I’m grateful your work has helped improve my own for so long.
Regards,
Vishal Canumalla
Vishal, I can’t express how proud I am not only of your photography and accomplishments, but YOUR paying it forward by sharing your visual stories with all of us. Congrats on graduating … Mr. FedEx has a box for you from Sharon & I :-)
In this episode “Organizing the Pegboard”
Yep, you might guess I was getting the ol woodshop unpacked at The Ranch. But what does that have to do with YOUR photography? At more than you think!
