Delaware Birds Adventure 18-23 May, 2025

We want to invite you to join us in Delaware for unbelievable bird photography on the bay!

The habitat on the south side of the bay is a rich fueling area for shorebirds on migration. Knots, Sanderlings, Godwits, Curlews, Whimbrels are just a small selection of the subjects we’ll be trying to get close to with our lenses on. We’ll be shooting from the sand, beach panning, to tripods to overhead. We’re talking a target-rich location waiting for our passion to tell its story.

The price is $1950 which covers instruction, a packet written just for this adventure, premeeting Zoom, and transportation once you arrive in Washington, DC, and much more (food & lodging not included in the price). The Palouse WA is a spectacular place to explore with your camera! This short little video will help you get there with the when, where, why and even where to eat. One small correction. It’s Old Hwy 95, not 395 as in the video. Enjoy!

We finished the week from the top of Steptoe which offers an amazing view! We started by photographing a gorgeous AT-6 which circled us below our perch with The Palouse for a backdrop. Then we waited for the fun to fade away in the west. An amazing week with the brilliance signaling the end.

Still standing, barely on The Palouse is the Old Weber House (please respect its private property). The gorgeous testament to time stands witness to the fortitude of those who built and settled the land in ecologically sustainable ways starting a hundred years ago. Last night the clouds were screaming, screaming through the heavens which meant one thing, long exposure. The Z 8 was set so the travel of the clouds, the vanishing point would be to the right corner pulling the eye down and around to the house. With 16 stops of ND on the Z24-70f2.8, I had a nine-minute exposure. The last one before the sun slipped away is my favorite, that slight kiss of warmth to end the time. It was the perfect wrap to the day, to the story, the speed of time.
