It’s Photoshop World week which for me, means getting caught up on all I’ve not learned in the digital darkroom and juice up the imagination for things I want to master. Dave Cross has started it off with this killer tip that’s over on Layers Magazine (leave it to RC to get this great stuff out!). I had the same problem and now thanks to Dave, I have a fix. You just might like it too! It’s real simple, it’s called Fit to Window.
Photographers are turning to smaller and smaller photopacks to carry less and less gear. We know this from the tons of sales of our MP-7 and the phones calls from folks asking for help. Well, I thought I’d put together a little packing video on just that topic for ya.

I want to make sure one thing is clearer. I talk about switching the gear from a “people” shooting packing to “landscape” in the video. When I do that, the 14-24, 28f1.4 & 24-70AFS come out of the MP-7 and the 24, 45 & 85PC-E go in their place. Hope this helps you take all the gear you need for your next shoot!

Hey, I understand we have an opening at our upcoming Maine Media Workshop class on landscape photography. Being held in beautiful ME (Yeah, were we just spend a week), I’ll spend FIVE days with 15 participants covering every aspect you can imagine from camera craft to computer craft in producing landscape images that move the spirit.
This will be an intense week. With all the time we will have together behind the camera and at the computer, I can’t imagine any topic that won’t be covered and more thoroughly then any other class I might teach on landscape photography. This includes printing as there are Epson printers in the digital darkroom. If you’re up for the challenge, both the class and working with me for five days on one topic, give MMW a call. Stephanie oh Stephanie, she just makes me laugh! She is so open to trying a jump photo just about on any location. When I suggested she jump over the Cape Neddick Lighthouse, her smile out shined the beam from the lighthouse.

This was a real easy shot to produce. Stephanie jumped doing a scissor kick over the lighthouse in the distance. To stop the action and get a tack sharp image, I shot in FP mode at 1/3000 f/5.6. The SB-900 was set to 200mm and held by Kevin so it would be a little above Stephanie’s eyelevel when she was in the air. Received a couple of emails asking how we’re doing the focusing. The D3x is set to AAA which nails the focus without any thinking. Good thing, Stephanie just jumps and jumps and jumps. It’s great fun!
