I’ll admit that finding “Waldo” on day four when we’d been looking for him since day one was embarrassing! For giggles I had Photoshop AI look for him in my photo and it couldn’t find it either but that didn’t make me feel any better. The Eastern Screech Owl had found the perfect roost for it and for us, once you found it tucked into the natural cavity. And as nest it was, the light couldn’t have been any worse with them bald skies blasting away light in all directions. Gotta make it work though, I would be on a plane the next morning and gray skies were coming that afternoon (plus the sun would be directly behind it. The solution was simple. I underexposed the overall scene by -2/3 and then “lit” Waldo with the Profoto A10. This “compressed” the range of light. Now you can see Waldo cause I didn’t want you to look at my photo and say, “Where’s Waldo? No … Seriously!”
