I love, just love to death with the pines and slatehred in snow! It’s like a mad baker came in with a cement mixer full of white frosting and went to town. I often celebrate this with a long lens and going in tight. In my imagination, it would be a great puzzle to put together by a winter on a cold winter’s night. That’s why I call these types of photos, puzzle me this :-)

Z 6III Firmware 1.10 updates

■ Video Recording

• Hi-Res Zoom is now available when the image area is set to “DX”.
• Added a [Power/Hi-Res Zoom collab]* item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of g9.
• Added a [Shutter mode] item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of g12.
• Added [Zebra pattern color] to g14 [Zebra pattern] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
• Added options for customizing the brightness information display to g17 [Brightness information display] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].

* This feature is available with NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lenses (as of February 2025).

■ Controls

• Added [Save and load power zoom position]* to f2 [Custom controls (shooting)] and g2 [Custom controls] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
• The command dial roles in mode S can now be switched using g2 [Custom controls] > [Command dials] > [Exposure setting] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
• Added a [Zoom ring control (PZ lens)]* item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of f11.
• Custom Settings f12 and g8 in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] is now [Assign power zoom]. In addition, [Power zoom speed] has been divided into two items: [Power zoom speed (zoom buttons)] and [Power zoom speed (zoom switch)]*.

* This feature is available with NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lenses (as of February 2025).

■ Other Changes

• Added [Power zoom speed (zoom buttons)] to the roles assignable to the “i” menu via [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] > f1 and g1 [Customize menu].
• Reduced noise in dark areas of N-Log videos.
• Fixed the following issues:
– In rare circumstances, the camera would stop responding during video recording when [Video file type] was set to [ProRes 422 HQ 10-bit (MOV)] and [Hi-Res Zoom] to [ON] in the video recording menu.
– The camera would stop responding when the HDMI cable was disconnected after connecting the camera to an external monitor via HDMI and performing operations such as shooting or playback.
– In rare circumstances, the camera would stop responding when rotating the photo/video selector to switch to video mode while [Video flicker reduction] > [Digital flicker reduction] was set to [ON] in the [VIDEO RECORDING MENU].
– In rare circumstances, the camera would stop responding during video recording when an ATOMOS AirGlu BT compatible device was connected.
– Noise would appear in the audio of the recorded video when an external microphone, which did not require a power supply, was connected and [Audio input sensitivity] was set to [Manual] in the video recording menu.
– An error message appeared and recording ended without saving the video to the memory card when [Video file type] was set to [N-RAW 12-bit (NEV)] in the video recording menu and the remaining recording time was low.
– Slight image shake occurred when recording videos under the following conditions:
▸ A micro lens was attached.
▸ [Electronic VR] was set to [ON] in the video recording menu.
▸ The camera was fixed on a tripod or similar.
– In rare circumstances, optimal exposure could not be achieved during burst shooting after changing the exposure in mode M.
– The shutter release response became extremely slow after shooting using radio Advanced Wireless Lighting (AWL) with an optional WR-R10 wireless remote controller.
– In rare circumstances, detection borders did not appear on the detected subjects during burst shooting.

Z 8 Firmware 2.10 Updates

■ Video Recording

• Hi-Res Zoom is now available when the image area is set to “DX”.
• Added a [Power/Hi-Res Zoom collab]* item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of g10.
• Added a [Shutter mode] item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of g13.
• Added [Zebra pattern color] to g15 [Zebra pattern] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
• Added options for customizing the brightness information display to g18 [Brightness information display] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].

Note: The shooting modes in all shooting banks “A” through “D” are set to P right after the firmware is updated.

• Added a [Zoom ring control (PZ lens)]* item to the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU] in position of f10.

▸ In rare circumstances, the camera stopped responding.
▸ The viewfinder and monitor shooting displays (live view) were corrupted.
▸ Overexposure of photos occurred during auto bracketing.
– Auto capture would not start in [Auto capture] in the [PHOTO SHOOTING MENU] or [VIDEO RECORDING MENU] under the following conditions.
▸ [Capture criteria] was set to [Motion].
▸ [M] was selected for the lens focus-mode switch.
– In rare circumstances, the camera would stop responding during video recording when an ATOMOS AirGlu BT compatible device was connected.
– In rare circumstances, images that could not be edited using [Retouch] were recorded.
