Be The Light

Sax-Zim Bog Sundog captured by Z 6III / Z26f2.8

It is an amazing ability we have that when we feel dark, bringing light to others brings it to ourselves. Photography is very rewarding but there are times when, we don’t see those rewards. This is a great time to find that light for ourselves and share it with others, lifting us all out of the dimness at the same time. A week ago sitting in the warm truck with the dash temp registering -31 outside, this sundog appeared. If you look closely you can see the moisture in the air coming down as ice particles latching onto anything including photographer and gear. But that light, that scattering of white light across the heavens screamed getting out in the cold and recording that memory and sharing it. You all can do it, be the light.

Moose Shooting Report – Sax-Zim Bog

ProGrade PG20 Power Hub – Nice Addition

ProGrade PG20 Power Hub

Great timing ProGrade, I needed to clean up my workspace, and the PG20 Power Hub works great! The ProGrade Digital PG20 Pro Thunderbolt 4 Hub, is the ultimate tool for seamless connectivity and fast data transfers. Equipped with an 85W upstream charging port, three Thunderbolt 4 15W downstream ports, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port enabling you to customize and organize your workflow. Its magnetic top base is custom-designed to mount up to two ProGrade Digital readers. The “mounting” of the readers on top (magnetic) is ingenious as there are “trays” that hold them perfectly. One cable out of the computer, four devices connected to the hub. Love it!

New Galleries Thanks to SlickPic!

click and you’ll be whisked to the new gallery

I wanted a couple new gallery sites, one for my critters and one for my aviation photographs. No text, tips, techniques or tools, just images. Even with the “long” nights of winter, time was at a premium. I was so happy I turned to the pros at SlickPic who in a click or two had my first gallery up and going! The folks at SlickPic make it so darn easy to create and maintain the new galleries! I loved that I simply sent them my images then with their expertise they designed the perfect layout representing me and my photographs. Seriously, it couldnt’ have been any simpler, thank goodness! Maintaining my two current websites is a one-man band affair (that would be me) so I was concerned about the time commitment to new galleries. Yeah, SlickPic kicked that issue’s butt making it so simple. The Critter Site is up (and will be constantly expanding) and as you’ll find, it’s just photos for your viewing pleasure. Next to knock out is the Aviation Gallery. I hope you enjoy them and I highly recommend the folks at SlickPick, new galleries thanks to them!

The “No Name” Z 9 / Z 8 Eyecup

“No Name” eyecup on Z 9

I’m not sure what’s up with the name, but I like this eyecup / DK-33 replacement of all so far. Craig turned me onto this one last week, and got a couple more off Amazon. It’s “stiffer” than others I’ve tried which I like, lets the cameras perform like normal, and is really inexpensive. Why am I calling it no name? Amazon calls it one thing on the website, the receipt calls it another and the box it comes in is again, a totally different name. All I know I’ve got a stiff eyecup to pull the camera tight against my face. The No Name Z 9 / Z 8 eyecup.
