K&M Adventures is taking on the the elements with a winter Oregon Coast Adv, 19-23 March, 2014! The storms have been great, this is going to be a killer trip! This magnificent region is one Kevin & I have journeyed to and photographed many, many times. The coast in the winter is a spectacular photographic playground as Mother Nature chisels away at the rock! As you might notice, I think it’s a great place for B&W and is the same region featured in my Kelby Training Black and White Landscape Class. You’ll wanna fly into Portland on the afternoon of the 19th (by noon) and fly out on the 24th (after 2pm). We’ll pick you up from the airport and escort your around until we take you back to the airport. That, along with instruction are all included for the price of $2195 (we have one opening). We spend from breakfast until last up together shooting, eating, shooting, digital darkroom, laughing and other things you just can’t imagine! Which means you might find yourself in front of a subject you never imagined. (Unlike our other Adventures, there will be a lodging change half way through the trip. Cleaning sensors, it’s been a pain in the ass since the first digital camera. And the confusion and fear about doing it seems to be a very common issue amongst photographers. Since I posted the video about the Sensor Gel, I’ve heard from many photographers who seem down right confused about this process. You really have three options, you don’t ever clean your sensor, you clean your sensor or you send it off to the repair shop to clean your sensor. Understand, it’s your camera, your photography, your option. I’m on the road and in my bag are all that you see in these two videos. In place of using the Brush, I use the Sensor Gel and at this point, I’ve not had the need to wet cleaning. If I need to go wet, I have the Copperhill with me because it’s still a great system. But YOU need to do what YOU think is best for you. I’ve heard all sorts of “possible” problems using any and all of this. Yes, it is all possible but at this point in time, those possibilities have not bitten me. Doesn’t mean they won’t so I still use care. But the methods you see in both of these videos are in my bag of tricks.
It was a gorgeous flight as we flew east into the rising sun. I wasn’t going to blog today, much too much on the plate but just wanted to share the sights. All these photos were taken out the window shooting with the COOLPIX P7800 which I really love shooting with. I have the Nikon HN-CP17 Lens Hood for it which I originally got just because it makes the 7800 look cool but in this application, it worked killer to remove the reflections from inside the cabin. Even cooler is that the Nikon 58mm Snap-On Lens Cap fits on the shade which, for my large fingers works a whole lot better than the little cap that comes with the 7800. Well, I just wanted to pass along some fun, here’s a gallery of my favorites.
