The dates 04-09 Nov, 2023 are for a number of reasons. The first are the birds, fall migrants are on the lake, waterfowl and wading birds galore. The second is fall color blankets the forests lining and IN the lake. The reflections are doing to be amazing! We explore this photo rich environments each morning for four hours with a great captain who has been exploring Caddo for decades. We’re on a great photo platform as we cruise the waters. The combination puts us in the right place at the right time like the sunrise photo above. Notice the water is a mirror and we’re in a boat. That takes skill! And in my mind, this is a two lens Adventure, Z400 & Z24-120. The price includes transportation once you land in Dallas until you’re taken back, boat and captain/guide, education and entertainment is $2750. I am taking four shooters only, all the seats we have on the boat.

Its name comes from being the smallest Tern in North American. But no matter how big or small you are, when you’re alone when you expected the gang to be with you, heading out against the storm can be lonely. Might be flying against the wind, you gotta keep flying or, you crash. Progress might be slow, at times none at all. But as long as you keep flapping, you are still doing a whole lot better than falling behind. Keep flapping my friends!

Spent a delightful morning at the Least Tern colony on Duxbury Beach. Nearing the end of its season, there were a couple dozen nestling, most able to fly, still in the rocks where they hatched looking for mom and dad to feed them. If you can find them in the rocks, shot at f40 to pull all the DoF I could with a 800mm, they would “hide” until the parents returned with a fish. Once the parents were inbound, the chick would often expose themselves, coming to life to get the parents attention. Then faster then you can blink, the parent lands, the chick grabs the fish and swallows it. Then the parents are off again to forage and the chicks, hunkering back down until next feeding. It was a great morning pointing the lens at a new game, find a tern.
