You Might Check In …

Old Home captured by Z 8 / Z24-120

While it didn’t have a rental sign in the window, that’s where my imagination went. That angry cloud overheard set the tone for the story going through my head. I put the Z 8 in Dark Tone Monochrome, set the lens to 24mm and arranged the elements moving my feet to tell the story. The rest meant to set your mind down the same path of basically saying, you might check in …

The Pretty Poisonous Ball

Mushroom captured by Z 8 / Z24-120f4

There it was on the trail to Moxie Falls in ME, this miniature radar dome glowing in the morning light. I’m not a macro photographer but I do love beautiful light so with my knee making its grinding noise I bent over to make a click. Below you can see the progression as I tried to make it all work in the viewfinder. The texture, color, and shape in that light was the goal but it took a bit of thought. The Z24-120 is a brilliant macro lens and with the monitor of Z 8 pulled out, it was possible to move around the shroom. The final image worked the best for me as I used Sharon to create a shadow on the left side of the shroom. I wanted some of its world to be in the frame but be fainter than what I was seeing with my eye. We’re here looking for Moose and fall color (finding neither the first day) and had fun with my friends with this pretty poisonous ball.

Just Another Day in MT

Cessna 195 captured by Z 8 / Z100-400f4.5-5.6 1/40

Jake texted at 17:17 “Hey! Super last minute notice but 30 Cessna 195’s are coming into Three Forks tomorrow arrival 11:00.” Jake knows how much I like 195s and being caught up in the office, off I drove yesterday morning. Timing is everything being on the ramp after the three-hour drive five minutes before the first 195 entered the pattern. It was a marvelous afternoon of fellowship with friends, shooting with Jake, and being outside. When it was all done, back I got in the truck and home for the first football game of the season. Just another day in Montana!
