Snowcap Hummingbird capture by Z 9 / Z600f4 TC @1680mm
A hummingbird, with the name “snow,” it’s obvious how it first caught my attention decades ago. It’s the main reason I’m down in Costa Rica. The male you see above wasn’t around on our first attempt, just some females and juvies. This morning with the killer saturated light, we had two males for about twenty minutes and it was simply marvelous! I took all the horsepower I had to get the shot. If it wasn’t for its tail, it would be the smallest hummingbird on the planet. But it has a tail, so it’s the second smallest. But right now its the biggest in my heart and it only took four days!
