Traveling from the shores of Kodiak and its Brown Bears to the coast of South Carolina for migrating shorebirds has been a hoot! First morning out, dealt with the winds from the storm hitting north of us. Wind sent the birds for cover, so had little hope of much shooting this morning. After a killer breakie, went south to find just two birds. Two! Decided to head to the north end of the island where we found five, just five. Two were Piping Plovers, which were super cooperative and big time fun. One was this eclipse-plumage Sanderling, which was very happy to pose for the lens. Good thing it’s fall, as the light was just on the edge of not being photographically pleasant. But our luck from Kodiak was still holding as we clicked away some super cool moments with our feathered friends. It just proved my mantra I’ve said forever about bird photography. When it comes to a fantastic shoot, it only takes one!
