One of life’s mysteries fortunately for me happened right at my doorstep. A process I’ve wanted to witness requires a whole lot of time, as it turns out six months. If it happened anywhere else like I have seen numerous times before, I have to just wonder. Now, I have at least one answer. As you can see below, we came home to a kinda grizzly scene. It’s something we could see from our morning room, no binoculars were required. Back on 13 December I started my vigil documenting how such a powerful life is returned to the earth. On the 17th day it brought to my lens an amazing visitor that blew me away. Now, six months later what was a tragic then dramatic scene has come full circle, it’s come to rest.

Nature has reclaimed basically all that was that big buck. Just its rack and where it connects to the skull remains. The rest has produced this ocean of green with a white flower we’ve not seen before here at The Ranch. The white flowers actually trace the carcass, or, what was the carcass. The process of death and rebirth has been a little overwhelming, a bit emotional, and tremendously rewarding. Nature continually floors me!
