The Z 30 – my favorite Webcam!

It would seem that when there is an iOS update I find one thing that was working perfectly, not working so perfectly after the update. The Nikon Webcam Utility is the case in point. This FREE and fantastically simple app permits us to connect our Nikon’s to our computer and use them (more importantly, their lenses) to look our best when “zooming.” My preferred webcam is the Z 30 as it requires no real estate on my desk when I use it. After the Sonoma update and Z 30 firmware update, the Z 30 worked perfectly on my M2 MacBook but not my M1 iMac. The solution I found that worked for me was this one on Apple Support. It might seem scary to ya but it’s pretty simple. The one catch is, they want you to cut and paste the line of code. Do this before you reboot into Recovery Mode which of course, deletes what you cut to paste. My work around was to have the page I linked open on my MacBook and then typed it in. Once done, Nikon Webcam worked brilliantly as it always has. Now, it’s back to “zooming”!
