Pietenpol Air Camper captured by Z 6III / Z100-400f4.5
Sharon and I have a weekend tradition to head to our local airport cafe for breakie (they have the most amazing Huckleberry Pancakes!). It’s right on the taxi way, you eat watching aircraft going back and forth. It’s marvelous. It’s all about the food but if I’ve said it once, I’ve said a hundred times, just show up! I normally have a camera in the truck but sometimes, I forget it at home. This morning, I nearly forgot it again but Sharon reminded me as we were walking out. We pull up to the resturant to see this old classic having its tires chalked. Well, within a short time, I’m talking up the pilot, putting my business card in his hand, and photographing his gorgeous Pietenpol. It’s how a relationship begins and was the start of fun to come. Now that the mornings are near the single digit temp, flying an old, open air aircraft isn’t as much fun but spring isn’t that far away. Thank goodness Sharon said, “take the camera to breakfast!”
