Crabapple leaves captured by Z 9 / Z600f4 TC
There are always lulls when photographing critters the question is, how do you keep your mind ready during those lulls? While standing on the deck going after my chickadee shot, I would have twenty minute lulls between when they would come in as a gang to feed. If I moved to do something else during their absence, as soon as I left the tripod it would upset the rhythm prolonging how long I would have to wait. They know I’m the one that feeds them everyday, they follow me around as I fill the feeders but when I’m photographing them, no love. So me being me, I thought I would use the off time to practice finding and acquiring subjects quickly by using the leaves. The second or third one I saw, I noticed they were kinda cool, the hoarfrost nice. So, I picked the ones I liked the best and made a click. Then, I was exhausted shooting macro even it I was doing it with a Z600f4 TC and went back to practicing. It kept me occupied waiting for the next wave.
