Adobe has really upped the power of AI for our photo finishing with AI Reflection removal. As one who shoots through commercial aircraft windows a lot, reflection removal gets real old and real frustrating really fast. Now, you can remove those reflections with just one click. Kind of quietly rolled out in the last week, you have this feature now if you just make a couple of clicks. Move the slider in the photo above. You can see my reflection taking the photo on the ramp bridge at DEN. Then you see me disappear, it’s magic! It’s magic you now have access to!

You start by launching ACR (which means PS has been launched). In the ACR window, you then need to mouse your way to the top right corner where you find the GEAR symbol. Clicking on the gear launches ACR preferences. Once there, you click on the bottom tab on the left, Technology Previews. There you check the box next to New AI Features … as you see on the left

I might have my headset on, and iPad playing a movie but the window shade is always up, and Z 6III at the ready for just these kinds of moments. There was a wicked could above us at 36k’ as we descended into DEN. Between the angle of the sun and the shadow that was created, it was a spectacular scene. Making the photo was even simpler than previously with the new Reflection removal tool in ACR. Using the LCD, I lined up the shot and went click. As we sped by, I had time to make a couple of clicks and then the scene was behind us. It was 36k’ wicked!

Next to Canada Geese, Mallards are the most common waterfowl you’ll find in a park pond. They so love their bread (really bad for them!) In the wild, while one of the most common, wild Mallards are the most reclusive and hard to photograph birds you’ll ever come across. The sad thing is, that you have no clue looking at the photograph if I just walked up to the hen and photographed it or, put in over two hours to have it come close to me. It was the latter but importantly is the actual photograph. Hens tend to get little photographic love, their natural camouflage plumage that hides them on the nest doesn’t lend itself to jumping off the frame. But if you want to challenge your photography, and visual storytelling, make a photo that’s uncommon of the common. Gesture and light can go a long ways making up for lack of color. Don’t fool yourself and say, it’s just a mallard!
