Surely You Don’t See Me!

Northern Flicker captured by Z 9 / Z600f4TC @840mm

We know it’s winter, we have the “gang” back at our feeders. The gang is the flock, flock of Northern Flickers. At times, there are over two dozen mixing it up at the various feeders. Early in the morning, all their commotion attracts the predators and for the last ten days, a Sharpie & a Gos are present. The Sharpie is very obvious and chases everything that flies. The Gos, it wait until the Sharpie chases a flicker in its direction. We know when the predators first arrive as the older flickers freeze no matter where they might be. I was in the Hide a couple of days ago when they all froze telling me while I couldn’t see it, the predator was there. This male was at the top of the vertical perch as you can see. It froze, and didn’t even blink for almost ten minutes. Then when the coast was clear, went on its way. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me, I guess it was hoping that surely you don’t see me.

Great Ohio Bird Photo Adv!

Yellow Warbler

Magee Marsh 01-06 June, 2025?

We want to invite you to join us in Ohio for unbelievable bird photography on the bay!

Magee Marsh is one of the primer, spectacular birding and bird photography locations in the US you’ll ever visit. We had an amazing time in springs past with over 60 species of birds. We’re going a little later this year than in the past (this was my 7th time to shoot at Magee) for more nesting bird opportunities. I just love Magee so I’m going back in 2025 and want to invite you to join me!

The dates are 01-06 June, 2025. You fly in and out of Detroit (in the 01 and out the 6th). I’m having just 3 shooters with me (2 spots open). The price is $2150 which covers instruction, a packet written just for this adventure, and transportation once you arrive in Detroit. If you can join me, cause I’d love to have you, give Sharon a call 406. 240. 3503.

As the World Turns

Wyoming from 36k captured by Z 6III / Z26f2.8

Fall is here, the clocks set back so the flight from MSO to DEN races to meet the rising sun. I love watching the light come up on the landscape below. The light at first skims overhead at an angle and then as streaks east, the band of light slowly comes down to meet the earth. It’s warmth to kiss it awake. Since the dawn of time, it’s as the world turns.
